A Chilly Tap Off to Winter

There was a cool breeze blowing as we tapped off Winter League of Dubai Wednesday Night Touch! But any chill in the air was soon gone as 12 teams went into battle (or just banter!)

Despite the long break and any over indulgence over the festive and New Year period the teams, were in good shape and it was great to welcome players to our new home. There were a lot of news faces out there and plenty of familiar ones as well!

The Men’s division got off to a great start with victories for BroTown, Dubai Exiles and FFP. Our choice for game of the night was a thrilling 4-4 draw between the Satwa Seagulls and the Untouchables. There’s no leaderboard yet for the men as we wait to see who goes “Competitive” and who goes “Social.”  All results are listed below.

Over in the Mixed division, newcomers Champagne Rugby swept away any New Year hangovers and put in a great performance to get past BroTown Mako. Meanwhile current league champs Brotown Whai overcame a spirited Untouchables team to take the win.

It’s worth noting an impressive showing by the UntouchaBelles, the all-ladies team who went up against the Exiles men. If last night was any indication, the rest of the league should be a good bit of fun and a great bit of competition – whichever you’re looking for.
